Moves from my game against Rocky. I have black pieces here.

Move White Black
1 e2-e4 g7-g6
2 d2-d4 Bf8-g7
3 Ng1-f3 d7-d6
4 Bf1-c4 Ng8-f6
5 Qd1-e2 O-O

8 Bc4-d3 Bc8-g4
9 e4-e5 Nf6-e8
10 h2-h3 Bg4xf3
11 Nd2xf3 Ne8-c7
12 O-O-O

No, the game is not over! But something strange happenned. Rocky's last move is shown 12 O-O-O, I believe it was meant to be O-O since the bishop is still at c1 and hence O-O-O is impossible. The funny part is the way the pieces moved. By castling white K moved to e2 and taken its own Q!!

Of course, I would not mind continuing unless Rocky wants to replay the game after he returns.

I want to resign to myself in my game against Ramanujan...if my King is going to bully around my queen like that, I'll have no part of it!

I'm all for re-playing it when I'm back on the RO, Ram. Thanks for posting the moves here. I did O-O, so we can play it from there.

I'll offer a draw to get this mess off of both of our existing game screens.

I quite like 7 e2-e4....that's just nasty upon nasty.

I think it was the Tequila moving the pieces. That's what I get for making a quick move before I leave town.

Unfortunately it wasn't a new opening, one I've been playing, just forgot what I was suppose to do after 3 Qb3. I knew dropping the knight wasn't the main line, so I went back and looked it up - I'll at least know the preferred 3rd move next time - don't know if I'll remember what to do after the third move with out a little more practice.

Two of your moves I didn't like were #11 and 20. On #11, you let me exchange your light coloured bishop for my knight, which is usually not a good idea against fianchetto (and consequenly, my bishop was able to wreck havoc later and you had nothing to counter it) . On #20, Re2 was obviously a blunder.

Now I have two wins resulting from two unusual blunders by my opponents. Not the way I like to win, but I will take it. :-)

I don't remember it being that much fun - oh and I didn't see the trap behind 7. e2-e4, good move - but not much I could do. Trading off Queens and bishops a piece down isn't going to help the cause.

I played move 3 & 4 from Phoenix - I was pretty much doomed after that. It's not an opening that provides much compensation if you screw it up at all.

Who says the Samish(SP?) French isn't exciting?!!?

I liked the forking moves 15 and 16... Paul gave up some material in order to get out of the strangle hold but I think it may have been too late. Once I got in Qd2 on 28, I knew I had him. From the final position, mate is unavoidable in only a few moves.

Good game -- kept me on my toes!

Good game Darth. I had a little conceptual problem and Nb3xd4 was a mistake on my part. For whatever reason I was thinking my rook could capture your rook if you played Rf8xf2+, but there was that little problem with your queen being in the way. Oh well. It was a good game. Nicely played.

Werewolf and I agree to a draw (I was black). Got away with an enormous blunder at move 11 (beware the long diagonals) or the outcome might have been different. I think later on, a well-timed d5-d6 move would've done me in too. I guess sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

Good game Werewolf.

Thanks, i had the edge until I lost an exchange and then it was a downward spiral. The current bracket is a bit tough for me, and it certainly isn't helping that I'm in the middle of relocation preparations.

I'd been meaning to update the standings for a while but kept procrastinating. So I thought if I posted that then I might get around to doing it. And it worked!

Bobcat and I have agreed to a draw. Never underestimate the newcomer!!

Bobcat, you had me going for a long time - ever since I had my pieces all lined up nice and pretty for you. As soon as I tried to diffuse the situation, you swooped in and won two of my pawns. Then with your mistake toward the end, I was able to use an intervening checking move to win your bishop. Whoooooooooooooooo!!

I think one of us actually had an advantage, but it would take a long time to play it out, and I'm sure I'd mess it up. I'm happy with the draw.

Everyone else, watch out for Bobcat! (meow!)

I wasn't going for a 3-fold move. I saw something interesting that might work, and then i realized I had been in the same position a move earlier and I'd better try something else.

Good game. I knew I should win up the exchange like that, but you did make me prove it. But the nail was in the coffin...

Thanks, you definitely won the tempo battle there, but I outright missed the free pawns. I think my game would be better if it weren't so off-and-on, but that might be true of all of us. My games are probably better when I made several moves a day - or is that just because those games are strongly correlated with HC as my opponent? :)

This is my game with Darth. I played black...and just steam-rolled. :) (j/k)
...
In my personal experience, b3 is bad.

Mine is getting worse and worse...I should have tried something else against you...then getting my flippin' N stuck over on the K-side -- what a waste. You played well and styed calm throughout the thrashing....nicely done.

I thought you were too...actually thought I had an edge. Then I tossed acoin on move 29 and made the wrong choice....I saw it coming...and then blew it. You played very well. Good game.

Since it seems that my two games are the only ones still undecided in the cellar division, here's my report: I managed to avoid complete ignominy by squeaking out a win in my game with Thtevie.

My game with TiderInsider is K+3P vs K+3P. If Tider agrees, we can draw the game on the system and you can adjudicate. Otherwise, it is likely this will go on for another month:

Given that the game is pretty much immaterial, I don't see too much point in playing on, except for the intellectual thrill of seeing how this plays out (which I'm still wiling to do)

White: ACCTuary
Black: Thtevie

I just accepted a draw with MickFan. That was a fun game. As soon as I took the pawn at a4 on move 18, I now see that there was no way I could avoid the perpetual check. I also saw that I could mess up BIG time - and that would be an embarrasing loss - seeing how I had much more material at the end of the game. That was a good Bishop sacrifice on move 19, and it looks like it was well worth it.

Macro just resigned to me. Good game, Macro! Somehow, I got a minor piece ahead, and that was enough to win in the end.

This is my last game of the season. Since I'm going back to taking exams, I'll be taking a break from regular season play for a little while (but I'll still keep playing pyramid games, though).

Nice game, Bobcat! That was one of the more fun League games in some time. You won the Exchange early and cashed in your chips in the end. Well played.

I will be available to be a Patzer (uhm, to play in Chess 11) after 8/18.
So if some don't mind if I start late, I can play.

I don't remember what happened between me and Rekrap. I think it may have timed out some time ago.

Mel-o-rama defeated me and posted the moves. Werewolf and I are in the late stages of an interesting game.

I think I'll take a holiday for the next season or two.

Funny you should mention ... I actually thought about dragging the game on three move moves to hit 75 before resigning, but I thought better of it. :D I would have held the record for most 75-move games (3). Has anyone played three or more games with 70 or more moves in the AOCL?

Hagbard and I agreed to a draw. He actually offered it before I left for a couple of weeks, and after coming back, the position leaves me with the same thoughts as when I left. It is a position I would have thought I'd like, up a good bishop (in front of my pawns) to a knight, but one which I can do nothing in, unless I allow him to break through- I don't even have a tempo to use once our pawns get bottled up on the other side, that will keep him from getting his aligned rooks in. Good game.

Draw Agreed

Good game AC. I agree with your analysis, just didn't seem like much either of us could do.

I'll be interested to see if Fritz thinks either of us had an advantage.

I accepted Mr. Yuss's offer of a draw. While I felt I had a slight advantage (I had two bishops against his two knights in an otherwise even game, in my opinion), Gene gave genius remarks of how since we will be playing each other next season also, and it won't matter in the standings, we can stop the game in the interest of time.... How can one argue with such an ingenious argument?

Neither Gene nor I realized we were supposed to be playing each other until maybe three and a half weeks ago, so this game is not too far in....
