View Full Version : She comes from Rhode Island

And she has her own theme song.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v233/pseudolus/c1a8861a.jpg

Copper comes from Arizona, peaches come from Georgia
And lobsters come from Maine
The wheat fields are the sweet fields of Nebraska
And Kansas gets bonanzas from its grain
Old whiskey comes from old Kentucky -- ain't the country lucky
New Jersey gives us glue
But you, you come from Rhode Island
And little old Rhode Island is famous for you

And cotton comes from Louisiana, gophers from Montana
And spuds from Idaho
They plough land in the cow land of Missouri
Where most beef meant for roast beef seems to grow
Grand Canyons come from Colorado, gold comes from Nevada
Divorces also do
But you, you come from Rhode Island
And little old Rhode Island is famous for you

Pencils come from Pennsylvania, vests from Vest Virginia
And tents from Tentessee
They know mink where they grow mink in Wyomink
But a camp chair in New Hamp-chair that's for me
And minnows come from Minnowsota - coats come from Dakota
So why should you be blue
'Cause you, you come from Rhode Island
Don't let 'em knock Rhode Island
It's famous for you

In the great green room
There was a telephone

And a red balloon
And a picture of

The cow jumping over the moon
And there were three little bears sitting on chairs

And two little kittens
And a pair of mittens
And a little toyhouse
And a young mouse

And a comb and a brush and a bowl full of mush
And a quiet old lady....whispering hush

Goodnight room
Goodnight moon

Goodnight cow jumping over the moon
Goodnight light and the red balloon

Goodnight bears
Goodnight chairs

Goodnight kittens
And goodnight mittens

Goodnight clocks and goodnight socks
Goodnight little house and goodnight mouse

Goodnight comb and goodnight brush
Goodnight nobody

Goodnight mush

And goodnight to the old lady whispering "hush"

Goonight stars
Goodnight air
Goodnight noises everywhere .....

"Guess how much I love you" is too racy for american culture. I hear Michael Jackson like it tho.

Is anybody else ever bothered by the way Big Nut Brown Hare (my brother likes to switch the "brown" and "nut" around for humor, btw) is always one-upping Little Nut Brown Hare? The pictures are cute and the idea of them loving each other so much is sweet. I do read it to my daughter a lot. But it always bugs me a little that Big Nut Brown Hare always has to have the last word. Maybe it's just me... I'm also a little creeped out by the old lady whispering "hush" in Goodnight Moon.

You must have unresolved childhood issues. Reading those books and dealing with the issues should be good therapy.

Did you have an older sibling whom you felt your parents were always comparing you to? Did your mother have a "favorite"?

You're probably right. I'll schedule an appointment with a therapist ASAP. And I'll bring the books along.

Probably not. Her head does look a bit cone-like.Yeah, I made that up based on nothing but Titania's comment. Some chick at the photo lab said that to me about our first born. I was annoyed because she was right. Also because wtf was she looking at my pictures so closely for?

Me too. That old lady looks a lot like a rabbit.

Yeah, what gives? The mouse and cow and bears (any other animals in that story I'm forgetting?) are all referred to as the animals they are. Why is the Norman-Bates-mother-esque-rabbit called an "old lady"?
