Time to start thinking about this thing. I know they sort of tell you what is on it and what is not in the 'Readings,' but it is not as if I have a sample exam or anything from which to formerly assess my expectations.
So this brings me to this question. Are some of the final questions just like or the same as the 'Practice Problems' and 'Illustrative Test Questions?' Should we review the homeworks or is that something we can forget about after it is sent off.
Twig or anyone else have any 'getting ready for the final' advice?
Thanks!

It is 50 questions in 2 hours as opposed to a standard exam of 40 questions in 4 hours. Know the definitions & the concepts, don't spend a lot of time doing the long calculations because, there won't be any.

Stay tuned, they could be posting a practice test as early as tomorrow. They already have one for econ.

Good....that would be helpful as I have no idea what to really expect.
Hey 2M, will the real exam be like the practice one?

I just called to confirm. All VEE classes will have a sample exam posted by next Monday. They will be going in order of exam days. Time series will be last. Regression will be next.

The econ exam that is already posted said that it contains questions that were asked on the Winter exam. The micro econ exam that is posted contains 71 questions. My guess would be that is all or most of the winter exam plus some extras.

Hopefully the Regression sample exam will be just as complete.

NICE!!! Thanks for that info 2M.

It's cool that they are posting a practice exam for us.

As for advice: I haven't taken the regression exam yet. But what I plan to do is

A) review the formulas
B) re-read any of the conceptual/theory stuff in the NEAS material. Some of the theory questions on the Time Series exam were tough
C) work through the practice questions, now that we know that these will exist.

There weren't any tremendously difficult or time consuming computation problems on the Time Series exam. I mean you had to know what you were doing, but if you'd read through the material and done the homework, you should have gotten all the computation questions correct (other than the ones for which there was no correct answer choice). The hardest questions on that exam were the first 20 or so which were mostly theoretical. I was pretty worried about 30 minutes into the exam, but then I got into a long streak of computation problems and I realized I'd gotten it no problem.

Confession: I am still working on module 4 for this silly 'course'. I've studied regression before, but now I really have to get my butt in gear!!! I more or less took the month of June off (attempting to prevent October burnout) and so far in July it's been crazy with quarter-end stuff at work. So I've got some serious cramming to do now - fun!

I'm going back and reviewing all of this and all of this jacob/rachel dialogue is making my head spin.

2M, is there also going to be a sample exam, or just these practice problems?

Just curious. Obviously the practice problems are better than nothing, but a sample exam, or the exam from last time would be nice...

My printouts say "Practice Final Exam Problems" . I think this is the sample exam.

What day is the final?

If you are taking the class, that is an interesting question & one that you should already know.

If you are not taking the class and you are just curious, it is tomorrow.

I just wanted to wish my friend luck and I couldn't remember when she said her final was.

Good luck to all.

I assume discussion will start at 5pm in this forum?

Rumor has it, there wasa PAK put together on the NEAS site after this was over last time. This isn't a CAS or SOA test so the rules may be different

Sounds good, I'll check that out.

as a side note: Is anyone else having trouble taking this exam seriously?

Last time on the Time Series exam folks posted a PAK on the NEAS website. There's talk of one over there now, but I don't see any action yet.

I'm not overly worried or anything, but of course I'm naturally curious to see how I did.

Me. But I have to admit I found certain questions quite challenging. Moral of Regression VEE: I suck at converting units!!

For those who decided to only take one of two, regret it now??? How hard can Time Series be after this.

I mean if NEAS even states TS is the easier of the two I am almost debating not even studying before Friday to have a challenge.

No complaints here. Two months ago it was shoot I should have taken that class in college, now it's the opposite.

Most of you have probably seen, but I have compiled a PAK. If anyone who has not yet sent me their answers is interested in participating, send them to me through the NEAS website!

As for Time Series being easier than Regression, I don't know about that. Both exams were easy, but I found the Regression exam to be easier. Of course NEAS may have made the Time Series exam easier since last time around (maybe 50/53 passing was too low a pass ratio?) but if they haven't, I'd say it's harder. Still easy, but not quite as easy.
