Just saw a commercial for a Dell computer on U.S. TV for $699U.S. Funny thing is, I just got a flyer from Dell advertising the same computer for $699 Canadian. Both are made and shipped directly from the same factory in Texas. With $1US=$1.55CDN, that's quite a difference.
No point. Just thought it stuck out. :).

Buy a whole truckload with your Canadian bucks, then resell them to your US friends for US dollars. Sometimes, it's good to be a middleman.

Are you sure it's the same computer. Don't forget, Canadian megabytes hold about 33% less stuff than an American megabyte. :D

Maybe the computer has to go through the Canadian postal system which will destroy 33% of its value?
How about Americans have more money and can be charged 50% more for the same stuff.
Canadian Dell computers were priced with marginal expenses only to make product cost illustrations more competitive.
Canadians put a lower value on computing than Americans and Dell cannot sell computers unitl it lowers its prices enough to leave Canadians' beer budget untouched.

Because Canada is completely covered by ice and snow, they can afford to skimp on the cooling system.
Are you sure they're indentical systems? I had a tough time configuring two identical systems on the Canadian and US Dell sites.

Look at prescription drug prices. Same drugs cost less in Canada. The manufacturers know exactly what they are doing. We in the US get gouged by US companies while they give our poor neighbors a break to keep their sales volume up. Maybe if we would consume a little less the prices would drop for us as well.

Actually, if we consume less, then wouldn't prices have to rise to pay off the huge fixed costs of developing a drug (not to mention the costs of developing all those other drugs that turned out not to work)? Either that, or drug-development would slow drastically.
