View Full Version : New associates lag time
For candidates that are waiting on May exam results (released in July) to know whether they have attained ASA, will their names appear on the July or August new associates list (provided they passed)?

When I got my ASA, it was after a fall sitting, and my name showed up on the December new ASA’s list. I had already passed the APC and had my application for ASA approved by the board long before passing the last exam needed.

So, you found out you were an associate before the results came in? Or was the timing such that the December list came out after the exam results?

They published the December list at the same time that they published the list of passing candidate names, IIRC. Anyway, it was after results were out, in January. I have no idea why it was the December list. I could understand January (month results were released) or maybe even October (month I took the exam). They probably graded the exam in December, but the results weren't "official" until January, when grades were released.
I don't think they would publish names of new ASAs that were waiting on results. Otherwise, there would be people celebrating on this forum that haven't even seen their candidate number.

The July list will have the following header:
"Congratulations to the following candidates who have successfully completed all of the educational requirements for Associateship in the Society of Actuaries"
and the (official) August list will have the following header:
"Congratulations to the following candidates who have successfully attained their Associateship designation from the Society of Actuaries, based on having satisfied all of the educational requirements for membership, as well as having completed the Associateship Professionalism Course"

I disagree. Look at last year's header's for July and August:

It is a pleasure to announce that the following 122 candidates have completed the educational requirements for Associateship in the Society of Actuaries.
