View Full Version : Getting SoA credit for NEAS

Did anyone reading this complete a full VEE topic via NEAS back in March/April?

I'm curious as to what the process is from here to ensure that the SoA gives me credit for passing their courses. Of course I'm still waiting on confirmation that I did pass, but since I know I did 80% of the homework and got better than a 70% on the final, I'm pretty confident that I'll be getting credit.

I can't get my raise until I have the transcript from the SoA with "VEE Applied Statistics" on it and obviously I'd rather have that transcript sooner rather than later!

Do we have to fill out some sort of application with the SoA? Is there a fee involved? I do already have credit for two preliminary exams (three actually) so there is no problem there.

Thanks!

Hi Twig,

I filled out a form from the SOA website called candidate application for VEE credit. It about 50 USD for 1 VEE topic or 75 for 2, or 100 for 3. One you fill out this form you send it to the SOA as per instructions on the form. I did regression with Uni and time series with Neas. Neas sends the transcripts automatically to SOA, but for the Uni course I had to request a transcript be sent to SOA. Once they had all 3 forms, I got my transcript with my May results.

The link to the form is

Thanks. Gosh, I sure hope I don't have to wait for November results to come out to get my transcript updated. That's a long time to wait for a raise!

Did anyone do this purely through NEAS? Just curious if there are differences. It seems like the SoA is going to play a greater role in validating university credit vs. seeing that we passed the NEAS course.

I'm also sending a question to vee@soa.org and if no one else has responded when I get a reply, I'll post the response here.

I did NEAS in the spring for both Time Series and Regression. Once I got my results from NEAS, I sent copies along with the SOA form and the fee. I got a credit slip from the SOA about 4 weeks after sending the form. My coworker got his in about 8 weeks. You shouldn't have to wait until November.

 Thanks IT Refugee - that is exactly the information I was looking for! (And I'm glad I don't have to wait until November!)

Yeah if the results are out in a few weeks then they send all the stuff together, if the results are more then 1.5 months away then they send the transcripts earlier.
