Since there hasn't been much college football debate, I thought I'd start a new topic. What do you think of the 1st BCS poll? There's been a lot of talk about Miami being 4th. I haven't figured out why there's this idea that Miami always gets the shaft. Last year FSU went to the title game even though Miami beat them. So the thinking is that Miami got screwed. But they lost to a one-loss Washington team. So if Miami went then Washington got screwed. Then if Washington goes then the team that beat them got screwed, etc. The fact is, if you go unbeaten and don't get to play for the title, then you have a complaint. If you lost, then you have no case. The computer is the best way to determine who goes. So far Miami has a weak schedule. So they don't deserve to be #1. If they win out, they should play for the title.

I don't think there will be two undefeated teams this year. I'm thinking one undefeated team - probably the VT-Miami winner. The cakewalk Big East should let one of those teams go unbeaten. They should play a one loss Big 12 team or maybe Florida or UCLA. I think the winner of the Big 12 championship game will play the VT-Miami winner in the Rose Bowl.

Sooners/Huskers this weekend. Who do you like?

UCLA looked pretty good against UW, in the beautiful confines of the Rose Bowl, home of the BCS Championship Game, sponsored by....
It was a little hot, but the breezes were great, and it's a great place for pleasant tailgate parties.

I think UW seemed a bit too predictable. Is it possible that the audio (and thus the audible) is being picked up in game films that the teams share? With a new QB, the audibles can't be very complicated. All I know is that UW offense is pretty bad, and DeShaun Foster is unstoppable in the secondary. (Not unstoppably fast, just that the dinky safeties can't take him down.)

OU-NU winner should go undefeated. The possible Big-12 Championship rematch negates this statement entirely. Miami starts playing the tougher teams on its schedule, though no fault of their own that 9/11 occurred and that FSU has wasted away.

UCLA has a tough schedule ahead, playing Wazzu and Oregon. That is, if the Pac-10 is as tough as the computers think it is.

What about Maryland? It's got those on-and-off-ranked ACC teams on its schedule. If there are more than two undefeated teams, there will be issues. There could be a second bowl with two undefeated teams.
Then there's BYU, but its schedule makes Miami's look tough.

Well, things are much clearer now.

That is, until two more upsets cloud things. Then we might be looking at OK vs Florida, for all I know (which is now apparently very low).
