So here's my situation. I have a tv and vcr/dvd that sit on top of a dresser in my bedroom. The dresser is sort of narrow, so I need to have the tv sitting on top of the vcr. But alas, I think this is a bad idea. The weight of the 19inch TV over time could hurt the vcr. Every tv stand I have seen is over $30 and is for large tvs. I could probably make this by buying some plywood at Home Depot for $5, but that would take time and it wouldn't be too attractive. Has anyone ever heard of a tv stand like this? Is it ok to sit the tv on top of the vcr? Here's a basic diagram of what I am looking for.

do what I do and balance the dvd player on the TV... it's ghetto, but it works

I think he wants the stand to fit on his dresser.

We mounted our TV to the wall above the dresser using a "hospital" type wall mount. The mount has a way to hang the vcr just under the TV.

HomeDepot.com has them in electronics in the TV assessories area. Maybe cost too much, but it is nicer on your neck than watching TV sitting on a dresser.

We have that set up as well in the bedroom. Easy viewing, saves space, and generally a good solution, but I haven't been able to quite reconcile myself to the fact that it is really ugly. (It was already set up in there when we moved in. I would not have chosen it, but we keep it for all it's handy aspects.)

If he wanted everything on top of his dresser, I think his diagram would look like this...

Yes this is the setup we are going for. I decided that the tv wasn't too heavy, and that I'll just sit it on top of the vcr for now. The dvd/vcr combo is an Emerson or something cheap like that, so I'm not worried about it.

And even if it is not bigger, you may still be OK, just check to make sure the thing isn't caving in.

how about a bed tray (http://www.crateandbarrel.com/family.aspx?c=397&f=8175&q=breakfast%20tray&fromLocation=Search&DIMID=400001&SearchPage=1) to put on your dresser? If you can find something similar to the one in this picture but in wood or something stronger and make sure you find one that doesn't have the edges, that can be a simple "tv stand" on your dresser?

Go to a computer store and get a stand that raises computer monitors up. I am staring right at mine. Probably costs less than $10.

here's one for 99 cents (current bid)

... but it is nicer on your neck than watching TV sitting on a dresser.I would imagine that you also wouldn't get much back support if you're watching TV while sitting on the dresser.
