Apparently the anthrax was treated with something to give it "wings" which keep it in the air longer. Only three countries have what it takes to make these wings, and each uses a different method. By analyzing the wings, scientists will know which country produced the anthrax.

I think it was Saddam. Imagine a guy totally destroys you. You feel good that he's voted out of office, but then the insult of insults occurs when his son becomes president. That might have drove Saddam insane.

"THE UNITED States, the former Soviet Union and Iraq are the only three nations known to have developed the kind of additives that enable anthrax spores to remain suspended in the air, making them more easily inhaled and therefore more deadly, experts said yesterday. Each nation used a different technique, suggesting that ongoing microscopic and chemical analyses may reveal more about the spores’ provenance than did their genetic analysis, which is largely complete but reportedly has done little to narrow the field."

I'm sure that was a long trip.

My question is if terrorists have some of this weaponized Anthrax, then how much? It seems to me that if they can get some they can get a lot being that the only way to get any is from a state sponsored source. I really don’t mean to be an alarmist but if they have a state sponsored supplier then what is next? Perhaps small pox is more likely than we realize.

I just heard that for about $7 (seven) you can get a disposable dust mask with a P100 or N100 particulate filtration rating. This rating provides protection against inhaling the Small Pox particulate, the Anthrax spore particulate and the Tuberculosis particulate (there may be more biological agents spread by particulates but I’m not sure what they are).

OT: when will you wear this mask?

All the time, when opening mail. At the mall, after the alarms go off and its already too late?

I don't expect anything in the mail, I am very low down on that list. (Now Andy on the other hand...). So what good will the mask do, unless you have decided to wear it all the time even while sleeping.

Not to mention that "dust masks" do not prevent outside air, albeit a small amount, from entering around the mask, especially near the bridge of the nose and under the chin. Don't waste the $7. Invest it instead, and let the magic of compound interest turn it into a nest egg so that you can retire to Costa Rica.
