We've been here a year now. Hard to believe it's been that long, but the server logs show traffic since September 2001. Here's what's happening:

- Traffic has roughly doubled in the past year. Month over month we continue to grow (August dipped mildly, but I suspect if we removed seasonality we would still be trending upwards). I expect we may see 3 million page views over the next 12 months.
- We've put an ad in Actuarial Digest to promote job postings. Ultimately the job postings are going to pay for the site. And as it's a 'feature' not advertising, it's the way to go.
- Looks like the database hiccup from a while ago has settled down. I don't believe it's entirely disappeared, but it seems stable enough that there are no immediate plans to tinker with the database.
- We implemented a module on the server last month that compresses web pages before they are sent, along with a little bit of tinkering to the site. Bandwidth costs have dropped as a result, without affecting access.
- I've been looking at web-based email programs. I haven't found the right product yet, but hope to implement something eventually.
- Right now the site is hosted on my commercial servers. Both this site and my commercial stuff are growing rapidly, plus I have a number of new products launching in September and October that are going to chew up some bandwidth and processor speed. Something is going to start wearing around the edges soon, so we're going to put this site on it's own server. The site (and anything associated with it) will be entirely on it's own machine. The move will likely be made in the next month, it should be transparent. There is some additional cost for doing this but I feel that this is a neccessary move. We will maintain our current network feeds and infrastructure so things will be as fast as they are now.

Glen, Traci, and Moderators:

You run a helluva site. Thank you, you've gone where the CAS and SoA were unwilling/unable to go. Good luck in the next year.

All that's needed is....

And not to sound like a complete communist, but that ribbon causes everyone to have to drag down. You could replace the sponsors for the week. That would show their patriotism, of which I would need proof before I used their services.
