I will be there. So if during dinner you all decide to have a "Posters you hate on the RF" conversation, make sure not to invite me:)

Who else is going?
Check the poll.

I'm not sure this type of question is legal, although I don't see any problems since we're all anonymous and there is no prohibition on discussing the (pre-reading) material. We're not allowed to discuss our results on the exam.

I wish I would have seen this before going, that way I could have stalked some of you :)

I was in 67A, way in the back, sitting all alone.

Hey Lipman,

You didn't happen to celebrate on Thursday by eating cheese fries covered in bacon, did you?

lipman

Hey Lipman,

You didn't happen to celebrate on Thursday by eating cheese fries covered in bacon, did you?

No.

I celebrated by having a couple of frozen concoctions at the restaurant, followed by more adult beverages back at the hotel bar. The bacon covered cheese fries were for nurishment reasons, they were not celebratory at all :D

*edited to add* Using my superior powers of deduction, I have narrowed you down to 3 potential people, any hints on which one of those three you are?

pilotfish
08-22-2005, 09:25 PM
Alright - 3 out of 6 from one dinner checking in ... (does this mean it's really time to start studying for c8?)

Alright - 3 out of 6 from one dinner checking in ... (does this mean it's really time to start studying for c8?)

Your last comment allows me to eliminate one of the potential dinner guests, so that leaves 5 other people. I am pretty sure you are not me, so we are down to 4 potentials....Does one of your children have a sock compulsion?

pilotfish
08-23-2005, 09:09 AM
And how can you be so sure I'm not you?

Yeah - the sock kid is mine.

I might add to your deductions that bgirl is likely the person who mentioned this forum at dinner ...

I don't remember who mentioned it. I think I might have an idea, but only because the post didn't end in "Eh, Take off you hoser!" eliminating two of the contenders

bgirl414
08-23-2005, 11:26 AM
No fair! I don't remember hearing about a sock compulsion. But maybe you were a waiter who didn't mind when overcooked steaks were sent back?

And I will not be studying for C8. In fact, I will not be studying for another exam EVER! (assuming I passed, of course)

lipman
08-23-2005, 11:39 AM
Alright, now that we know who the three of us are...who are BigEEE, Skudo, and Solo?

BigEEE
08-23-2005, 12:41 PM
I helped close the hotel bar with you on thursday, although I wish I had gone to Outback...

skudo
08-23-2005, 12:48 PM
I think I'm the only one from Chicago in 67A

pilotfish
08-23-2005, 12:49 PM
You're also a newly minted expert on implied volatilities and smile curves, I'm thinking. Yes? (in response to EEE, that is)

lipman
08-23-2005, 01:01 PM
I helped close the hotel bar with you on thursday, although I wish I had gone to Outback...

Did you instead go to dinner with a Mr., a Mrs., and their recently minted midget?

*I love these kind of games :D! *

I think I'm the only one from Chicago in 67A

One would think I could have put two and two together and figured this out from other clues I had available...

Leia
08-23-2005, 01:12 PM
I also helped in the bar closing

lipman
08-23-2005, 01:20 PM
Woohoo more people to guess. Lets see if I can make any educated guesses as to your identity Leia...

I am going to venture a guess that you are the one who denied the "significant other" from a frosty beverage by leaving them trapped back in the refrigerator laden room (yes I am still bitter about the fridge!)

Leia
08-23-2005, 01:22 PM
You would be incorrect

BigEEE

That is correct!

Definitely.

Need obscure hints. Were you in 67A? Were you at the hotel bar at closing? Were you wearing socks?

Titus
08-24-2005, 07:08 PM
Lipman...

Did you enjoy the Awesome Blossom with your cheese fries covered w/bacon?

Titus
08-24-2005, 07:15 PM
BigEEE...

Were you the oldest at the table in the hotel bar?

Titus
08-24-2005, 07:17 PM
bgirl414...

did you bring everything, but the kitchen sink for your room, to be prepared for anything? drive an Audi by chance?

Titus
08-24-2005, 07:19 PM
Pilotfish....

your brother (maybe in-law) is a Brad Pitt look-a-like?

Titus
08-24-2005, 07:22 PM
Leia...

Were you the one that met their husband on a plane?

Lala42
08-25-2005, 09:49 AM
Answering for Big EEE - he was not the oldest person at the table in the pub, you only thought he was

As for me, I was in 67A and I did not wear socks at any time during the seminar.....and I helped close the bar

Were you (or more specifically your room) the object of my envy?

Leia
08-25-2005, 10:26 AM
Leia...

Were you the one that met their husband on a plane?

I did not meet the husband I do not have on a plane. But I was there for a conversation about someone else meeting her husband on a plane.

Lala42
08-25-2005, 10:48 AM
Were you (or more specifically your room) the object of my envy?

yes, you had refridgerator envy

also, if you still have any doubts....I share the same name as your x-wife

for future reference, you can request a fridge for yourself at most hotels, and they don't even charge for it!

Lala42
08-25-2005, 10:49 AM
Leia - are you from NYC?

lipman
08-25-2005, 10:53 AM
Leia - are you from NYC?

I can answer that one for her.
Yes

Lala42
08-25-2005, 10:55 AM
alright then, I think bgirl is the one who met her husband on the plane?
and pilotfish - were you the second oldest at the table?

none of us had any question at all who lipman is, huh??

Leia
08-25-2005, 11:01 AM
I can answer that one for her.
Yes
Thanks for handling that for me.

I had a refrigerator also. If anyone had a microwave I would have been jealous.

BigEEE
08-25-2005, 11:38 AM
BigEEE...

Were you the oldest at the table in the hotel bar?

I was not the oldest by age but perhaps by appearance!

bgirl414
08-25-2005, 11:59 AM
I am not the one who met her husband on a plane, I did bring everything but the kitchen sink, I did not help close any bar (though I am regretting that decision), I never wore socks during the seminar, and I am unsure about anyone's identity other than Lipman.

Lala42
08-25-2005, 11:59 AM
Big EEE it was probably your obvious wisdom that made you appear older ;-)

Titus
08-25-2005, 01:01 PM
Lala42...you were the oldest at the table...

Lala42
08-25-2005, 01:16 PM

I don't know...I didn't ask everyone.

Is that what the fortress was for? to protect you from the onion rings?

Lala42

I don't know...I didn't ask everyone.

but how do you know I was the oldest if you weren't there for the age discussion?

Titus

Lala42

I wasn't the second oldest at the table

pilotfish

lipman
08-29-2005, 08:41 AM
Is that what the fortress was for? to protect you from the onion rings?

No, the fortress was to protect me from a traitor at the table...somebody who would later betray 67A and hang out with the 67B rubble!!! (and no, calling them rubble does not indicate any envy that they had more bar attendees than 67A) :)

I'm the one who started a new job as the seminar started...

So did the flowers make the trip safely home? Or were they destroyed by less than safe driving?

lipman
08-29-2005, 08:43 AM
I believe I was the second youngest ...

Wrong table Pilotfish.

Just trying to help everybody keep everything straight.

Dinner - Bgirl, Lipman, Titus, pilotfish

Drinks - Lipman, Lala42, Leia, Titus, BigEEE

Neither - Solo, Skudo

I am pretty sure I know everybody now. Impressive that out of the 10 people I had direct contact/conversations with the last night via Dinner and/or Drinks, 6 have checked in with this thread.

Lala42
08-29-2005, 11:39 AM
Thanks Lipman, that clears things up. So I probably don't know bgirl and pilotfish.

Titus....do you have a goatee?

Titus

Solo

Hey, what are you saying about my driving?

Yes, the flowers made it home safely and actually lasted a week...

lipman
10-11-2005, 05:27 PM
This is the week right?

Anybody else nervous? Or is it just me because I wrote such a crappy paper?

Sorry... I think we still have a little while to wait. According to Judy Carney's e-mail, sent right after the seminar, "Our target date to release results for the Boston seminars is October
28, 2005." ... and you aren't the only one feeling really bad about the results.

Did anyone take the pension seminar? If so, could you provide some info.

I signed up for a general seminar in Dec. since no pension seminar was available, but some feedback would help since I can always defer the seminar into next year.

I didn't take the pension seminar, but I can give you my opinion of it :)

I was in session A and we would get done at a reasonable hour every night, have a nice lunch break, etc...while we never saw any of the guys from pension. I talked with a couple of people over lunch one day who worked in the pension area, but had signed up under the general seminar because they had heard the pension side was trouble. And judging by the amount of time/work that was required of them, I would tend to agree.

Of course I won't have as big a reason to celebrate if I pass as some will (bgirl comes to mind).

Just got word in, the weirdo (my word, not hers :D ) that met her husband on the plane passed as well. Apparently, looking forward to post-writing drinks is very crucial in passing!

*edited to add - Weirdo refers to her picking up men on a plane, not her general demeanor *

Leia
