View Full Version : Course 7 pretest material
Does any one know where I can obtain the application for the pretest material on the SOA webpage, (a link would help)..as I have been browsing the webpage and cannot seem to find application for the material (not the pretest itself)
Also I have a friend who has the pretest material for the 2003 session, does anyone know if there have been material changes in the syllabus from 2 yrs ago
We are told that the pretest material can also be downloaded, is this true?

1) Here's the order form for the Fall 2005 sittings: http://www.soa.org/ccm/cms-service/stream/asset?asset_id=9400079&g11n
2) If I understand it correctly, the material for the Course 7 pre-test changes fairly often - at least, more often than it does for the other exams. I remember reading somewhere that the material is applicable for about 6 months. After that, there is no guarantee of applicability.
3) Judging by the cost of the materials ($225), I doubt it's available for download. Plus, it doesn't have a "free on-line" disclaimer after the course number.

There was a big study note added in 2004 on the Actuarial Control Cycle. It's an Australian concept that the SOA really likes, I guess. May have been others, but I think that's the main change.
No, you cannot download the material. The only thing you can download is the study note on pricing LTC, which is an interactive workbook that you can download here http://www.soa.org/ccm/content/exams-education-jobs/candidate-and-exam-information/course-7-pre-test-and-seminar/pre-test-syllabus-item/.
Edited to add: Look at the syllabus in the Fall 2005 Education Catalog. The last two digits of the study note are the year they were added to the syllabus, so at least anything with an -04 or -05 extension is new, and possibly the -03 study note as well. http://www.soa.org/ccm/content/exams-education-jobs/candidate-and-exam-information/fall-exam-session/fall-2005/fall-2005-basic-education-catalog-and-supplements/
Thanks all, so if i have the 2003 study notes and I buy a revised study note that wont be enough

I would assume the revised study notes would just have what's new from the immediately previous version. Since there were changes in 2005, the revisions probably just have the revised 2005 study note, not the new ones added in 2004. I'd suggest calling Judy Carney at the SOA (she's in charge of all the Course 7 stuff) and asking her. You can find her number on the SOA website.
