Has she come out and supported the Taliban yet?

Since ABC is obviously worried about profits, Aaron Sorkin should just offer to let the network show West Wing for free as a way to make up the lost revenue.

There's a lot to be said about the McCarthy era blacklisting, but the Maher thing doesn't compare.
Speaking of Dr. Laura's problems, does anyone remember the "sponsor wars" generated by Rush Limbaugh? For example, Rush got the Florida Orange Juice promo job, and some liberal group threatened to boycott Florida orange juice. In turn, Rush supporters staged massive buying campaigns to show their support for Rush, and to show the liberal group to be in the minority. Very localized demonstrations, etc. but they were clearing the shelves where they showed up.
Why should ABC be required to air a program that advertisers won't pay for?

Sorkin is one of those artistic types who confuses the right to say stupid things with the duty of others to pay to hear it.

What has Sorkin been sniffing?
Oh, right. Nevermind.

But this is something that affects liberals; hence, it is the same as blacklisting. You can only say that it doesn't compare if it only affects conservatives.

Both Bill Maher and "Doctor" Laura are trolls.

You could argue that Dr. Laura is a troll, but you can't argue that she doesn't have a PhD.
Even if it isn't a PhD in Psychology...

While technically correct, as I have stated many times in prior forums, her use of that title on her show / book(s) is dishonest. She says, "I'm Doctor Laura Slesinger. You're on the air." That implies that you are going to speak to a credentialled expert. Not merely a few people have been unaware of this (at least until recently).
So yes, I argue that in essence, she (the persona that we know) is not a doctor.

Oh Yeah

When she says "I'm my kid's Mom" I want to rip every hair out of her head.
The PhD thing doesn't bother me. Her callers are complete morons and are lucky to be getting advice from anyone with higher than a 3rd grade education.

How is it that you folks know so very much about a person you think ill of?
It's not as if she has declared war on the US or anything... Face it, you guys love Dr. Laura!
You fantasize about her -- as she was 40 years ago anyway. Or perhaps you want her to spank you because you've been bad! Have you been bad?
Oh Yeah

You're right, E. It must be the grating sound of her voice that really turns me on.
I LOVE to hate her. I listen to her show in the car and she cracks me up, because she is so blatantly ridiculous. And since she is an entertainer -- mission accomplished. I'm laughing, so I must be entertained.
Seriously though, she reminds me so much of my sister-in-law it could drive me to violence.

Granted that Dr. Laura is an irritating personality, what is so irritating about the phrase, "I'm my kid's mom?" It seems to me only a statement of acknowledging responsibility.
I agree though, I wonder what some of these people are thinking when they call her. The first thing she does is try to find ways to put them down. And some of the questions they ask - you have to wonder, what do you THINK she's going to tell you?

I'm sorry, but... I have to ask: "Have you quit beating your sister-in-law?"
Oh Yeah

I'm tryin' to quit. But it ain't easy.
Perhaps I should call Dr. Laura.

Well, then, nevermind.
