OK, so last year, I posted a thread on a Vegas-specific board retelling my experience at being dealt a favorable second at Barbary Coast after toking the dealer. In return, I was showered with abuse, with very few people believing me.
So, I come here, to a more friendly audience, to share not one, but TWO such tales from my trip there last weekend.
Tale 1: Circus Circus. I'm betting $20 with a $1 toke. I split 7s or something, and double down on the splits. I push one hand and lose the double down. While picking up the chips, the dealer "accidentally" knocks two stacks together. When he's done, he has stacked an extra red on the push stack. I point out his error, to which he leaves the chip there and responds, "Thank you for the tip, sir."
Tale 2: 4 Queens, playing Blackjack Switch. On this game, a dealer 22 is supposed to push the table. With two or three $1 tokes out, the dealer has a 2 up, leading the table to stand with stiffs. He draws to 22, then proceeds to pay the table. Another player points out his error as he racks up the cards. He shrugs his shoulders, and delivers a series of mumbled lines such as, "It's too much trouble to back that out", "That only holds when my pit boss is around", "How else do you expect me to get my tokes?", and my personal favorite, "I'm in a union. I have job security".
That's 10 hands he paid off erroneously. Some of these players were betting $50 a hand. I'd guess he gave away close to $300 of the casino's money there to get $4-$6 of tips.
