Take a swag at how many times will you refresh the AO on exam results day.
Wouldn't the SOA site be a better one to refresh, since that is where the results will be?

That's what I was thinking.

I leave refreshing the SOA website for other people to do and wait for them to post it on the AO. I think last time someone had the web address of the exam results before a link to it was up on the SOA site.

Happy New Year everyone!
Its hard to stop checking on results day. I do it all the time. Its like an OCD! Think the AO and the SOA website are all gonna crash on the 6th.
Best of luck to everyone!

I'll be away from my pc (at work) all day on Friday. The suspense may kill me. But as soon as I'm free, I will check out the results....and hopefully commence the celebration party!

I don't understand why people do this. They release results between 3 and 3:30... why waste time and refresh all day.

Last exam they were out by 11 in the morning

CAS releases results during a specific time period, SOA does not

General the SOA results do come out between 3-3:30. There are exceptions though.

Agreed. Plus the SOA webpage tends to be really slow or unavailable on result day, under the stress of so many people. That tends to create false hope of an early release, so I try to avoid it until I know they are up.
That being said, put me down for once every half-hour, starting at 9 CST. However many times that is remains to be determined.

If there are exceptions, that's why people would do it all day instead of just during that window.
I'll probably be on the same schedule as cincinnatikid

there are so few exceptions though...but do what you want.

Earlier you said you didn't understand why people do this. I was just helping you understand. Maybe after agonizing for 2 months, some people don't mind hitting a refresh button every so often on the off-chance that something is posted earlier than expected.

In addition, for those of us that work at companies with a fair number of students, the sooner you know the better. In this way you are prepared with accurate information when you are inevitably asked "So, did you pass?" at 600 points throughout the day.

And we learned in psych class (ugh) that INTERMEDIATE reinforcement increases behavior.
Like if a dog barks and you give him a treat every time, he'll only bark once in a while.
But if a dog barks, and you give him a treat every FIFTH time, he'll keep on barking and barking.
So if they release the exam early ONCE or TWICE, it makes you keep on refreshing!

Oops...read that wrong. I was thinking SOA. Okay, so AO it's probably much higher...but that's true for any normal day for me.
We probably don't have to worry about crashing any sites, because exam P results don't come out the same day as the rest of the pe exams like they used to and p would traditionally have the most people taking it.

Well well. I think we've brought www.soa.org down, but not examresults.soa.org yet.

Oh good. I forgot about that. Should be much easier to access then in the past.
Now the refreshing has started...and I can't stop!! Going to take a long lunch!

Almost 3 and still nothing.... seems like I could be right....
and I can't believe that peole ask you at your company. Most people are very respectful here and don't ask... and there are like 70 students here.

I have this feeling a lot of people underestimated their refresh rates.
"Please limit refreshing to once a minute, thanks, Tom" You guys obviously disobeyed Tom's command. I could feel the heat from chat.
