I don't recall seeing this addressed in another thread...

Does anyone know how they're going to transition PD into the 2005 system? I recently realized that I can't get all the way done (incl PD) before 2005. I have 1-5 and 40 PD credits. Ok, to be more accurate, if I got 6 and 8 in back-to-back sittings, I'd get there. But I don't consider that a practical possibility. (And if I get 8 in fall 2004, I can't get PD done before 2005 because results don't come out until Jan.) I was thinking about stopping at ASA or at least taking a long break. I'm just really sick of exams!! But now that they're doing another transition, it's clearly to my advantage to take 7 when it's a seminar rather than a full exam, if I intend ever to get my FSA. So now I'm wondering... If I get 6 and 7 before 2005, where am I then? Do I have one full exam and a little bit of something else, or do I have 2 full exams? How are they going to transition PD?

If this topic is addressed somewhere else, please point me there.

No we haven't! I asked this before on the forum!!!!!!

I want to know when and if they are going to finalize the 2005 thing, too, and whether SOA will accept CAS course 4?

Course 4 is still a joint exam.

I was at the APC a couple of months ago which was taught by the penultimate-past-president of the SOA. He said that the new transition will be at least a year behind, if not two. So we will likely have until 2006 or 2007 to finish everything.

what new transition? What's being proposed?

PD = professional delay. It's the SOA's way of making us wait even longer after we're done with exams.

Actually, PD = Professional Development. After finishing the exams, you must earn PD credits doing a project and otherwise accumulating proof that you have some clue about the field in which you've presumeably been working for 5+ years.
