I graduated in 2004 and unfortunately, don't have any prerequisites for VEE credits so I need all 3. Can anyone share the easiest way to go about getting credit from previous experiences. Even if you know of a way that's easy for 1 of the courses, it would be much appreciated as taking all 3 courses as I'm planning to start work is a daunting task. Thanks in advance, I appreciate any help.

NEAS online courses aren't that difficult. I would take that route.

I bought an old version of an economics textbook ($8) and the College Board sample questions ($10/ea) and took the both CLEP econ tests. They were very straightforward. If you did well on the SAT/GRE, you will already be accustomed to the style of these tests.

Yea, I heard that those CLEP tests were mad easy... but you can't satisfy all the requirements w/ them.

I agree

NEAS is the way to go. With them all approved right now, I don't know why people still plan to take the CAS transitional exams. I started Time Series just two weeks ago. A dude I work with started it just about a week ago. The final was yesterday.

Yes, But do you have the details of the 'student project' yet.

No, but your grade just depends on the final. I know I will pass with 100% certainty. Can't say that for CAS exams. August 05 had 50% pass rates for Econ and Finance, 75% for Applied Stats.
Project or not, Neas is the way to go IMHO. Just my opinion though.

And I was surprised that 75% passed the Applied Stats exam, after working it. I didn't find the problems easy.

How's that project coming? I would much rather do the Actex class or even the CAS exam than go through an oragnization as disorganized and uncaring as the neas.

I did the time series ones from that exam as prep for the 13th NEAS final. I didn't find them that difficult (6 or 7 of them); maybe the regression analysis ones are so. I also did a few time series problems from previous SOA exams, and I thought some of them are difficult.

To me, CAS exams are preferable compared to NEAS due to the following facts:
1) You can plan your study schedule yourself, you can solve the problems at the pace and in the amount you consider the most convenient and appropriate. I do prefer self-study, at least in case of VEE exams that are not so difficult
2) You need to take just 1 Economics exam instead of 2 separate Micro- and MacroEconomics exams
3) You need to take only 1 Applied Statistics Exam instead of 2 separate Regression and Time Series Exams
4) Your get automatic VEE credit as soon as you pass the exam
I took 2 CAS VEE exams in August, namely Economics and Applied Statistics, and I passed both.
I spent 40 days while preparing to both exams simultaneously while having
a full-time job (in IT, not in insurance, even though I am dealing with investment systems).
I had 12 out of 15 right (80%) on VEE Statistics and only 12 out of 20 (60%) right on VEE Economics. In both cases, I have passed.
And finally, I do not think that 60% of right answers on VEE Economics is so high requirement at all.
Just my 2 cents...
