View Full Version : Pd filing fee - $315 vs $175

I am about to file my initial plan.
Just don't understand the filing fee option here.
$315 will include $125 distand learning subscription. If not participate in distance learning, the fee is $175. Isn't $315 - $125 = $190? There is $15 penalty for paying filing fee and choose to participate in the distance learning at the same time???

It sounds  All I can think of is that maybe $125 is the cost of taking Distance Learning (the fee someone taking it for the content, but not for PD would pay), and there's an extra charge for them to monitor your Distance Learning against your plan. That's probably not it, but nothing else jumps to mind. I would be really surprised if you could pay them separately and save $15.

Yes. You can.
Meeting & Seminar -> Distance Learning Subscriptions -> Professional Development Distance Learning Subscriptions.
$15 is not a lot to save. It just doesn't make sense to me the difference doesn't add up to the total.

I emailed the SOA about the distance learning subscription since I am not sure if I will use it at all and I would need less than 12 tapes even if I used it. They said you don't have to subscribe with your PD filing - you can just order tapes directly from AVEN and as long as the session was approved for PD at the meeting, you can use it via distance learning.
They must have raised the fees because I dropped mine in the mail on 12/31 and my two options were $275 with distance learning and $150 without - the difference of those is $125. Why they raised the distance learning fee more than the other is beyond me!!:-?
I think they just fixed the problem with the extra $15

Yes. Unfortunately, $315 of my company's check is already made yesterday.
It's still $5 cheaper if you subscribe the PD distance learning thru "meeting and seminar".
