Use EA credit for other than Pension track?

I have an EA, which counts as 25 credits toward my PD. I am thinking of switching to other fields (Life, Health etc.).

I want to know if I file my PD plan under another track, can I still use my EA for the 25 credits? Or else, is it true that the only way I can use my EA credit is to file a PD plan under pension track?
