Somebody internally alerted me to the fact that there are two cities named Weatogue in Connecticut.

Other examples? What the hell is that all about.

Yes, NJ is notorious for the multiple cities. Actually, what I found worse was one would be a city, the other would be a township, etc. But of course when people are telling you something is in such-and-such place, they don't usually add that little detail so you usually end up in the wrong place!

two Red Bank, NJs as well... one where I grew up in Monmouth County near the shore, one in Glouscester (sp?) County across the river from Philly......
the map feature on google renames the town in GC 'National Park, NJ' for some reason. Guess it can't deal with multiples?

Two Waimaeas (sp?) in Hawaii. Different islands, but the Post Office calls one Kamuela now.

Also, Minnesota has two Hendersons.

Mapquest shows three, count-'em three, places named Red Level (http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?searchtype=address&country=US&addtohistory=&searchtab=home&formtype=address&popflag=0&latitude=&longitude=&name=&phone=&level=&cat=&address=&city=red+level&state=AL&zipcode=), AL.

Beat that.

Hey, since you live in NJ, wanna stop by my old landlord's place and do something mean and evil to her for me? :D

Can you tell I didn't like the woman?

What part of Edison? I used to live right near the DMV and Post Office...can't remember the main roads over there....

I think i've heard u mention this landlord in a previous post (unless u've had many landlords that you hate :-P).

I'm a pretty expensive bully-for-hire, btw :-D

i live about 5-10 minutes from that post office/DMV (depending on traffic on Plainfield Ave/Stelton Rd. :-P). I'm on the border of Edison, South Plainfield, and Piscataway.

Do any real states have multiple cities with the same name?

There are 2 Blenheim's in Ontario, not that anyone would notice. Both of them are intersections in no where land.

Ontario is not a state. Or were you counting Canada collectively as a state? :D

I didn't know about the 2 Red Banks and I grew up just minutes from the Monmouth Co. one.

PA has 2 Springfields within a half hour of one another.

Texas has two towns with the same name, but I forget what it is.

There were to towns in Arkansas named Hope. But one changed its name to Clinton.

There was a discovery channel thing on NY Pizza. They tried to go through the "Ray's" history. It's psychotic...there's Rays, Original Ray's , The Real Original Rays, the real real real original Ray's, etc.

I'm thinking that they all suck.

NJ has two Dovers as well.
PA has a ton of duplicates.

What is really annoying is Mapquest's answer to these situations - to provide two links with the county in parentheses. How likely is it that I know the county names!? A map with the two candidates highlighted is more likely to be helpful.

that's more than google maps does...i think it just picks it's favorite one and gives it to you...

I think google searches by zip code. Do all these duplicate names have their own zip codes, or are they part of larger zip codes?

It depends - sometimes they are right next to each other and part of the same municipality(townships are several towns that function as one governmental unit), other times they are completely separate.
