Does anyone remember what the pass marks were for the three sittings of Course 4?
If so, how confident are you of these marks. How were they derived, etc.

I would think that all that's been said on past pass marks have been educated guesses, at best. Not any one of us has ever known *for certain* that the pass mark for, e.g., May 2001, was 23.
However, there was convincing evidence (e.g., someone got 21 correct and scored a 5, and someone else got 22 correct and scored a 6) that would indicate, in this case, that the pass mark was 22 correct. But, then you factor in the possibility of a question being thrown out due to its defectiveness.
So, I can't imagine that anyone will be able to "explain the pass mark's derivation" (that is, unless a grader for Course 4 is amongst us)--the best you can do is take the information that we've gathered (i.e., via Roger's website) to draw conclusions.

22* May 2001, 23 November 2000, 24 May 2000.
*Only some people passed with 22.
