I have heard great things about Mahler, and I know his course 3 notes were good, but is Pai worth the extra $120?

depend on how much material you are buying, and who's paying for it. :wink:
It's nice to have, but I feel that Pei's questions aren't hard enough. I think it is a good second set of material.

yes. Pai as the second set of materials will be enough but not the first set :wink:

I found Pai's portion of the guide to be adequate. To me his part of the course was more memorization related. If you can stuff all those many formulae in your head you have a good shot. The other half of the material seemed to have a greater chance of having "tricky" questions or questions that require more understanding. But as the others have said, if you don't have to pay for the guide(s), the more the better.
