The directions are completely worthless. The guy at Circuit City told me I could copy the files over to the MP3 player. I think he was lying. It looks like i have to convert them to WMA or MP3 files before I can listen to them.

Anyone know?

on a Windows computer. You rip the files to your computer (use Windows Media Player or some other player on your computer). Then upload the MP3s or WMA files to your player

Your mp3 player didn't come with software specially made for it?

Usually if you had some software (for iPods, it's iTunes), you can load the CD and through the software, enter it into your library.

If not, you can rip the CD through Windows Media player - there's a tab called "Rip".

Your mp3 player didn't come with software specially made for it?I don't know. It came with a CD but it won't open because I'm not using windows XP. On the computer that does have windows XP I can't get the CD into the drive because it's one of those little CDs and my cd drive won't accomodate it.

That didn't work. "Windows media file encountered an unkown error."

On my WMP, I have a tab that says Copy from CD. YOu can copy your songs onto your computer into your My Documents or My Music folder into WMA files by checking the songs you want to copy and hitting the copy button in the upper right. If WMP detects your mp3 player, you can also use the Copy to CD or Device tab to copy directly onto your mp3 player.

Go to your friend's house and watch him/her rip the CD.
My Windows Media Player does it almost automatically.

OK, I'm assuming here that you have at least one friend that listens to a lot of mp3 music.

So, one of my computers has a different version of WMP and there's no rip tab but there is the copy thing which is what I tried and got the error.

I used my other computer and WMP does have the rip tab and that worked fine.

Thanks for all the help!
