Though I am not ready to get into studying again . . . :shake:

I am gearing up for my first attempt at course 3 and a friend gave me the HTP Course 3 manual. I have heard that there are A LOT of mistakes in that manual. I have the "second printing" of this manual and it appears that all the mistakes on the HTP 3 website errata have been corrected in that printing. I would like to hear thoughts from those who have used this. Is it useful? worth it? a huge waste of my time?

Any thoughts?

Thanks

I used HTP on my first attempt at course 3. Hated it. On the second attempt I used Arch with Actex as a backup for any material I wanted a different point of view on. I feel that this is the best approach for course 3. Arch does a great job especially if you haven't had the material in school before.

I think that HTP does the best job of explaining Life Contingencies topics.

Unfortunately it does not have many problems or solutions for its student exercises. There are also too many errors and it is no longer being updated.

I think that Arch is excellent. If you want a lot of problems Actex has that but I don't like their explanations of topics. Also I am not convinced that the Actex problems are close enough to exam problems. I really don't have a good source of exam type problems other than the published exams. Actually for me I think the 200+ exam problems that have been published (5 exams) are enough.

Most who have used it reccommend the Mahler material and seminar for the non-Life Contingencies topics. Also most seem to like the Batten material and seminar for Life Contingencies.
