To all passersby,

I was considering taking the 3 EA exams. I have very limited pension experience. Is there an experience requirement in addition to the exam requirements?

Yes, 3 years of work experience to get your EA.

Does intern service count?

They require 3 years of "responsible" pension work. I would imagine that, unless you get a full time position with the same company that you did your internship for, you will not get credit for your internship.

They require an EA at any company for whom you are claiming responsible experience with to confirm what your duties entailed.

OK. I should have 3 years service by the time I finish the EA exams anyway (it's my understanding you can take them at any point, you just can't finish the application without 3 years service), but I am working full-time now for the company I interned at for 7 mos. total.

I think that the definition of 3 years of responsible experience usually requires that you work for much more than 3 years. The first few years are not considered responsible. My company has a whole list of skills that you must demonstrate before they will sign off on your application.
