Not as White. More often than not, when black, I will respond with 3. ... Nf6 (Two Knight's Defense).

Nf6 and Bc5 both tend to favor Black slightly. Most other moves give White a decent advantage.

Nf6 followed by Ng5 can be fun!

Anyone else play this this opening?I think the Giuoco Piano is reached only after black plays 3... Bc5. As pointed out above 3... Nf6 is the Two Knights Defense.

I was going off of statistics from a site I play on quite a bit.

Those statistics dont tell the whole story, not many strong players will play something as boring as the giuco piano which will skew the results. Black definitly DOES NOT have an advantage there.
That is SO funny!

Anybody? Anybody?? No one??
Come on, I saw this post four days ago and thought, WOW, this will get quoted at LEAST twice with some rofl's and notworthy's, but nobody's said a word! I guess because it's in the chess section where nobody goes, people will never come to appreciate the COMEDY GENIUS that will forever be imprinted on the bytes of our little actuarial world. Maybe people don't speak Italian? I don't know, but I do know that I saw E. Blackadder's post set me up for a back-rank CHECKMATE!!!
 :notworth:

I play this. While "quiet" it is a good opening to play when you want to keep nice control of the board and wait for black mistakes.
