View Full Version : How does a regrading work?

Hello everyone,

Does anyone know how to ask for a regrading from SOA and how it would be handled?

Does anyone has this kind of experience before with SOA?

Is it even worth the pain to do it?

I just found out that I failed course 4 and I am sure that I scored 27 questions right by comparing to the answer keys on SOA website.

Is anyone in this same sh*tty situation as me? How do you cope with it? Are you going to do anything about it or just write the exam again without even finding out what happen?

Can SOA ever make mistakes while grading multiple choices exams??

Please help! And thanks in advance!

About 5 years ago I ask for regrade. If I remember correctly, I just asked and they re-scored my sheet. Didn't make any difference, but the process was painless.

Call the ombudsperson and ask for a recount, it should be that simple (might have to write a letter).

I just now sent an e-mail to the ombudsperson@soa.org. I asked if there was any formal process. Simply sending an e-mail asking for a regrade should work.

I am not dealing with it very well right now.. Very frustrated and angry.

I don't know how I am going to gather up the energy to study for this fricking thing again.

Hello Glenn, thanks for sharing your experience with me.

When you say it did not make any difference after you asked for a regrade, were you at least convinced that they were right and you were wrong?

Will SOA tell you how many questions you get right?

How can we be sure that they really took the pain to find your sheet and graded again?

How can we be sure that they really took the pain to find your sheet and graded again? You can't. Suck it up, and start studying again.

All I got was a 'no change'. No other info was provided.

I felt I had written a 7 to a 9. Not a 4 or 5 that I received. Unfortunately, there's no way to be certain I didn't make a bunch of stupid mistakes, or colour in the circles wrong. To paraphrase Cho Da, there's no recourse beyond that. I'm sure that they regrade, I can't imagine how they wouldn't.

I'm not expecting a change in score. However, I think it is worth 1/2 hour of my time to send them a letter.

I plan on starting studying again right away.

you just need to give them your
1. name
2. candidate number
3. which exam

will do...

i just send them mine info.

i will not be taking course 4 for at least 1 years although i failed it. gonna shifted to course 6 and course 5 only come back to course 4.
i will feel better.

I thought about this option but I am scared of doing it as course 5, 6 are way harder and bigger (according to others who wrote them). But best wishes to your studying!

Are you still in school David?

I was informed it would take 4-6 weeks for the regrade.

I think it's a mistake to switch to the higher level exams. You have just invested all this time on Course 4, and if you wait another year to take it again that stuff will go right out of your head. I would just persevere even though it's painful.

Next time, make a "mental" note of your answers, then check them against some informed source.
(Warning: might be against the rules.)

Then, when it makes no sense that you've failed, and you're feeling a bit paranoid at your administering this Rebel Outpost, go to Schaumburg and demand to see your answer sheet. It's possible that someone has changed your answers so you will fail. Yes, the whole world is against you, it is.

Eh...Dr. T Non-Fan, you are joking about someone has changed our answers to make us fail right? We are talking about a respectful organization here. Please do not scare me.

But if you are NOT JOKING, please give advise on how can be request to see our answer sheet.

Thanks!

That was only for glenn, who has a "legitimate" reason for being paranoid.
And yes, I was "joking."
