Questions:

1) what is your conservative estimate for the pass mark?

2) what questions have a legit chance of being thrown out? or answers changed to (d) in the case of #22?

I don't know but I hope it's lower than last sitting.

Does everyone believe that #22 should be D? Or is there anyone who thinks that #22 is not a misprint and is B?

I believe it is D and that would make the 30th question right for me!!

I believe that #22 should be D. If not, anyone knows the solution?

Has anyone written to the SOA yet about #22?

If not, what is the procedure for appealing?

I agree, #22 is D. To appeal, you have to write a timely letter to the SOA. Instructions are in the catalog.

I'm sure that a mistake such as this would be caught without any appeal, but all the same I would not refrain from appealing just because I heard someone else did.

I have written to the ombusperson with my solution. I also ended up with an answer of D. I hope that is correct or I will feel pretty silly. Did anyone else write in?

I was wondering what the basis was for these guesses.

I believe they are from testimonies of those who have passed and failed in the past as tow how many they scored right.

I hope people base their "guess" on the difficulty of the exam. However, I thought by asking for a conservative estimate people would guess based upon what they considered relavent.

But since you brought it up, what do you think most people base their opinion on?

My guess is that people look at previous passmarks. I read 30/55 for last sitting. I'm assuming this was figured out by people that took their answers out of the exam. Then people would say I got 29 right and a 5 and someone got 30 and a 6 to figure out this cutoff. so if it was 30/55, I'm assuming 28 or 29 out of 50 should do it. I believe the general consensus is that this exam was more difficult than last sitting.

You should see the other thread, "Course 2 Pass Mark". There you will see that May '01 pass mark was 30/50. And I am fairly sure that was correct.

may 2001 had 55 questions, not 50

I took the exam in May 2001. There were 50 questions.
