View Full Version : Pasting from XL to Word

I have some tables in Word and the values are calculated in Excel. The Excel spreadsheet has tables set up exactly like the ones in Word. Everytime I paste the values from XL to Word the formatting gets screwed up.
Is there a way to paste exactly?
Pasting an XL object has not been working either.

Using Excel and Word 2002, it seems to work fine for me. Do you have more specific examples of what type of formatting you're losing?

The font type changes.
In XL the font type is Times New Roman size 12. The current values in the Word table are also. I highlight the cells in XL and copy them. Then highlight the cels in Word and paste. The values in Word are now Courier New.
I think the size remains the same.

It changes for me. (both when I start out with Times-New for both and when I have different fonts in the table and in Excel)
I don't think it's coincidence that's it's jumping to Courier, which is a fixed-width font commonly used for text (lines it up nicely).
Try going (in Word) to Tools-Options-Compatibility-Font Substitution. Maybe there's something weird in there (although your copy of Word obviously recognizes Times New Roman).
If you're pasting the cells into Word and letting it create the table (as opposed to pasting into an existing table), click on the little clipboard after you paste - that will give you "Paste Options" and allow you to adjust the font.
