NEAS Macro Final Exam Results

Started wondering when these come out, and how we're notified. I sent an e-mail to my buddy (not really, just she's the only one I ever hear from at NEAS!) Patti and this is what she said:

You will hopefully not here from us tomorrow. That is when the failures are emailed.
The transcripts should go out LATE in the day on August 18th. They are emailed.

Hmmmm...so if we don't get an e-mail tomorrow, that means we passed. So why wait until the 18th to e-mail the passers...why not send out two sets of e-mails tomorrow???? Whoa...the NEAS is messing with my mind!

I e-mailed my best friend, Patti, back just to clarify and asked her if not receiving an e-mail meant I could assume I passed. Her response:

That's some good information, Frenchie. I had no idea that they sent failure notices on a different day! When I passed the Finance course, I just assumed everyone was e-mailed on the same day. I'm now waiting on my regression results - I hope I don't get an e-mail today either!

I'm not sure Bama. I only asked about Macro. Try e-mailing at
vee-neas@verizon.net and ask. I usually get a reply within an hour, most times within a few minutes.

i think patti/rachel/jacob need to get on those boards more often. There are questions hanging out there from like 3 sittings ago. For an organization that "encourages" discussion on the boards, they should really hire more people to drum up that discussion.

It really irks me that they say "discuss on our boards" but offer very little help themselves. At least offer some kinda weekly office hour or something for crying out loud.

I agree. I had trouble with my final project for regression and was afraid 'd never get help. The instructions say "post any problems you have and our staff will help you. Tell us what data you are using and we will help you figure out where you went wrong". However, I knew that I'd never get a response from them. Fortunately, another student answered my question and that helped me.

Yes Bama, Patti told me the same thing regarding Time Series. So I am concluding this is true for all exams.

It's probably more like this:
Rachel: NEAS prefers to send out the results to all candidates at the same time. However, since there is no automated system, each score report has to be filled in by hand. Because there are far fewer failures than passes, the failures are sent out before the passes.

Last time I took an NEAS course, the e-mail came out around 3:00pm Eastern time. Then again, we also got the e-mail exactly three weeks after the exam, so I guess it could be any time.

I am anxiously awaiting "late in the day" and hoping that Patti meant "late in the WORK day EST", which would really be midday out here on the Best Coast... ;)

I emailed last Friday just for confirmation that they had in fact received all of my homework (because I did not receive a "you failed" email, but that really, really surprises me), and she just reiterated that transcripts would be mailed today :(

You'd think it would be easier just to post passing names online or something... like the CFA Institute does. My boyfriend and some colleagues take CFA exams and the CFAI publishes results online (you have to log in with a candidate number/password to access them). Results came out on Wednesday, but because of the insane rush to access the website/results, the site went down for several hours at different times of day (first time when Europe woke up, second time when America woke up, third time with Australia/Asia woke up). On second thought, maybe email *is* preferable!

It lists course, grade, exam score (all for Micro), then says:

Homework: Micro OK Macro OK

Does that mean a fail for Macro, since it doesn't list course/grade/exam score?

I am in shock - I truly cannot believe I passed both Macro and Micro! Granted, I got a 70 on both exams (minimum required to pass).... but I PASSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our mini-PAK's must have been off slightly because I only had 33 for Micro and 34 for Macro.

I'm sort of inclined to think that Patti was sick of my pestering questions so she told the instructor s/he had to pass me.. ;)

I should not be so excited by this but they're my first passes ever (I haven't passed an SOA exam yet) so I'm well pleased!

They won't send you a transcript for VEE. It will just appear on your next exam transcript in January. However, they will send you a letter letting you know if your VEE credits have been approved. I can't remember how long that took - a few weeks maybe.
