The Feldblum discussion of this paper is Soooo long. And the All 10 summary for this is almost equally lengthy. Do you guys think this discussion is important? Do you think it will hurt me if I totally skip it? If someone can kindly provide a short summary of the key points for this discussion, I will appreciate it very much.
Btw, the all 10 summary for the Teng & Perkins paper itself is shockingly short. It didn't include some of the important calculations, such as CPDLD ratio and Table M.
As recently as 2003, there have been Feldblum questions

I'm about half way through the material and I think that this paper is by far the hardest to understand.
Have you read Barnett & Zenwirth yet? :-)

I think T&P is probably one of the worst summaries in All10. The article is not even close to the worst written on the syllabus though. My advice is do not depend on All10 for this article.

I think the claims about the difficulty of this paper are greatly exaggerated. I also think it's one of the most important papers on the syllabus, at least for someone who is interested in learning as well as passing the exam. It gives the reserving actuary a lot to think about.

Learning the material is a waste of time.

were you able to do the questions at the end of the all 10 section on this paper?

It's not badly written at all, but IMHO, written way above the level of what should be tested on this exam. But Glen Barnett did post to this forum last year to help those who were having problems with understanding it:

Only after reading the paper. I originally tried to do the questions after only reading the All10 summary but grew incredibly frustrated. I found after slowly going through the actual paper, everything became much clearer. T&P really isn't a tough paper compared to some of the other reinsurance ones.
