I have a prob with my computer. If I install Mcaffee on my system, my performance drops. I have a p3 733 with 354 of ram so I don't think that hardware is an issue. any ideas?

What he said. I won't use Mcafee, and won't be using Norton shortly.

Here's one possibility:

Any comments on FPROT? I'm looking to replace my Norton as well. Other suggestions (besides a linux install...that machine is fine).

Fprot has been around since the 80's I think.

The only issue I had with Fprot was that the free home version looked to be a DOS program. The grisoft stuff had a windows interface (the grisoft is for Windows not linux BTW).

As far as what catches more viruses, I don't know that anyone can really provide a reasonable answer. They all should prevent the vast majority of viruses you're likely to run into.
