For the PD project, would it be possible for someone to create a hypothetical problem using real data?

Does SOA places alot of scrutiny on the PD Project?

Depends. As an example, if you were to take actual company data and show the impacts of an inforce reinsurance program on earnings (such as the smoothing effect). Explore various mortality scenarios (either fixed or stochastically generated) in addition to a "best estimate" forcast. I think that is a valid project.

Look at the sample projects. The SPIA one shows a hypothetical problem as applied to that company's inforce.

Can someone point me to "sample projetcs"? I only found one on SOA website, and it is too outline-like. I am curious, do I have to include Data Section, Analysis, etc (like they tought us in course7)? It would be nice to see at least one actual finished project...

Thanks!

From the link below, once you click on Health or Life, choose the PDF file listed in the far right column (i.e. Health Plan Excerpts). Scroll through the executed PD until you get to the person's project.

Can anyone come up with a recommended schedule for doing the project (including the tasks and the number of hours each week)? I understand it's supposed to take from 60-100 hours, but I won't be surprised if mine takes around 120.
