It's quite possible, but maybe not through classwork. Ever go to any frat parties in Phase?

My guess is we crossed paths, sober or not. As you've probably surmised, I'm not an actuary, but have served parts of the actuarial community for over 12 years. Not terribly mysterious, right?
Anyway, I like to monitor what happens in the forum on occasion, but never really feel the need to post (unless a UofR grad pops up). Nice to observe. Lot's of interesting and humorous content! Let's just say it's helped me determine how to better approach my job and good for a chuckle every once in a while.
Since name droping is inappropriate I will resist the urge, but my guess is we have friends in common or may even know each other from our past collegiate lives. I'll crack a Genny Cream Ale in your honor.

I applied and toured the campus. Nice looking school and they gave me an enticing academic scholarship. The Engineering program there felt extremely weak however so I had to opt out. You're lucky to be in the heart of Wegman's country.

I am from the Class of '90. I didn't think Uof R produced so many actuaries!!

UofR could be an actuarial powerhouse if it wanted to. We definitely have the brains. It's just that our academic departments focus more on research disiplines (no actuarial science or accounting degrees). Basically, our school is really good for preparing people for grad school who want PhDs in their fields. I almost missed out completely on this great career due to not being aware of the profession!

maybe. I agree it's really good as grad school prep. It would be nice if there was an undergrad business degree, but it prides itself on being a research institution.
I found the Certificate in Actuarial Studies one day when I was bored and read the undergrad bulletin.

Let's not forget that Rochester also has a good juggling club.

I also just realized that according to the SOA directory, there are all of 11 actuaries in the entire city of Rochester, and I'd bet that opportunities in other financial fields aren't much better off. So it makes sense as to why UofR goes the research disciplines path...

well, it is affectionately referred to as Eastman Kodak University.

Actually UofR has already taken over as the top employer in the city.

Without the UofR, Rochester would just be a bumhole.

Class of '07.
They just keep poppin' us out.
FYI on the UR Alumni Network, there are a good 15-20 actuaries.

Not an Alumni, but a Rochester resident. Considering taking courses from U of R for my VEE credits.

U of R coursework for VEE credit? It is much cheaper, easier, and takes less time to just take the NEAS online courses, especially if you are taking ECO 207, 209, or 231.
