The Indian government will shortly introduce a health insurance scheme under which 250 million poor people will get free medicines.
This was stated by Minister for Chemicals, Fertilizer and Steel, Ram Vilas Paswan, at a press conference held at the India House here last night.
"Under the scheme, which is currently before the Cabinet, Government would spend about Rs 3000 crores per annum to provide free medicines to 250 million people below the poverty line," Paswan said.
He said about five crore families would be benefited, with each family comprising on an average five members.
