Continuously Discrete

I have five exams (1,2,3,4,6 and APC). I am currently sitting for Exam 8V to get my ASA. If I don't get it I am going to start right away into the modules. Is it possible to be prepared for the February sitting if I start in the middle of November? I took Course 5 and understand the material really well.
I'm hearing alot about this End of Module exercise for FAP2...is it possible that I could get my ASA by the May?
Could someone who is currently in the Modules comment on the difficulty of the end of module exercises in general?
I'd say if you can budget 250-300 hrs., you can do it. Don't doddle though. Could easily spend 400+ hrs. if you don't focus on moving forward.

I think that you should be able to do it. There are some people who sat for course 6 this may, and still finished the FAP by August.
But you have to be prepared that you need to spend a lot of hours reading and doing the assignment.
Good luck!

I spent less than 250 hours total for the girst 5 modules. IMHO, it would be a good idea to have atleast 2 weeks to review the material before the test. So I would aim to finish the module 5 exercise around Feb 15th. That is a tight schedule but if you don't mind not having a break after 8 then it is doable. The key is being able to tell what reading/slides can be skipped.

Definitely doable, but you'll be pretty busy. Keep in mind that nearly half of the reading in the first five modules is in the second module. (At least that's my recollection.) It's nasty. Yes, they're going to change it, but they said it won't be changed until middle of next year I think, so I think it's safe to assume that it will be just as nasty when you are doing it.
The first module is by far the shortest, and also has the dorkiest end of module exercise, plus you're just getting into the swing of doing the exercises, so you'll probably spend more time on that one than any of the others.
Definitely don't plan to spend the same amount of time on each module. If I were dividing up my time, I would do it as follows:
Module 1 Readings: 8%
Module 1 Exercise: 7%
Module 2 Readings: 22%
Module 2 Exercise: 5%
Module 3 Readings: 10%
Module 3 Exercise: 5%
Module 4 Readings: 10%
Module 4 Exercise: 7%
Module 5 Readings: 11%
Module 5 Exercise: 5%
Review: 10%
If you multiply those percentages by 250, that's probably a reasonable budget for your time. Also, even though the module 4 exercise takes longer than the others, I think it's also the best exercise. I wasn't rolling my eyes at all during that one. Instead I was thinking "I can totally see this exact situation happening."
Alternately, consider this: regardless of whether you pass Course 8 or not, you won't have credit for Exam CSP. You could give that a go in May and fit in the modules later...
You say that you are going to work on the modules "if I don't get [Course 8]". Well the problem is that by the time you know whether or not you got Course 8, it won't be November, it will be January. And that really isn't enough time to prepare for the February exam. It might be safer to plan on sitting for CSP in May (i.e. start studying in November) and picking up the modules later. It will postpone ASA, but will probably get you to FSA faster, and I'm operating under the assumption that FSA is the ultimate goal. (Else why would you be taking Course 8 now?)
