Gas Prices Drive Geos from Clunkers to Chic

I can understand wanting to get better gas mileage, especially with such a long commute (although I don't understand why someone would live 100 miles away from where they work), but why would someone pay $7,300 for a 13 year old POS?
On a related note, my Dodge Grand Caravan is rated at 24 mpg (highway). I was recently on a relatively long road trip (over an hour each way on the highway), and using cruise control I was able to achieve 32 mpg (at 60 mph) and 29 mpg (at 65 mph). I bet with some lessons, Miss Solomon could have learned to get decent mileage out of her Honda Element.

I have a 1996 Geo Prizm. Gets me 30-33 mpg on the highway which is mostly where I drive.
