Gas Prices Got You Down? Buy a Geo Metro!

Gas Prices Drive Geos from Clunkers to Chic

If you need a good laugh, head on over to cnn.com and check out the linked article. I've included some snippets below:

Quote:
With her 100-mile commute to and from work each day, she saw no end in sight. Then she rediscovered the Geo Metro...Solomon toyed with the idea of purchasing a Prius but decided that for a price of $7,300, the [1996] Metro was the more economical option.
I can understand wanting to get better gas mileage, especially with such a long commute (although I don't understand why someone would live 100 miles away from where they work), but why would someone pay $7,300 for a 13 year old POS?

On a related note, my Dodge Grand Caravan is rated at 24 mpg (highway). I was recently on a relatively long road trip (over an hour each way on the highway), and using cruise control I was able to achieve 32 mpg (at 60 mph) and 29 mpg (at 65 mph). I bet with some lessons, Miss Solomon could have learned to get decent mileage out of her Honda Element.

I have a 1996 Geo Prizm. Gets me 30-33 mpg on the highway which is mostly where I drive.

You should probably consider selling it on ebay.
