I discovered I have access to piano practice rooms. I played and played. Well "play" in a rough sense. I don't actually know how to play. I haven't had any training. Formal or otherwise. But if you sit there long enough it sort of comes to you. At least enough to make you deeply happy for the first time in months. It was like sex and falling in love at the same time.

Also they have a drum set! I spent 20 dollars on drumsticks. I don't know the first thing about drums but I don't care it's going to be AWEsome and so what if I don't have a life or a girlfriend or a job?!

I used to play the piano in one of my campus buildings even though I have no formal training. It was fun, but probably annoying for the other students. Who cares lol.

i've done the piano a bunch of times now.

the drums are a lot more intimidating. partly because i don't know enough about them to lose myself in the music and partly because they're so loud.

picture some dork with an ipod and a folder full of punk music tabs lying open on the snare, who can't even bang out a steady rhythm, while flits of motzart and chopin and gershwin sneak in from the much quieter rooms. poor kids.
