Restarting Studying

Posted 05-09-2009 at 03:56 PM by MCSS

Today I re-start studying for exams after a three year hiatus from them. My intention is to write exam C in November 2009, and keep widdling away at passing these exams even if it takes many years to do so.

Why the change of heart?

Well, when I consider the job position I am in now, there isn't room to ever be "#1" as it is in an engineering field, in which I don't carry an engineering degree. Somewhere (and soon) along the line I am going to need to switch career paths and get back to where I originally sought to be when in undergrad studies. Issues I take with engineering jobs is you go where the work is - and never have the stability of knowing that as long as the skyscraper is still downtown, you will know where you'll be working years from now!

I wouldn't mind staying with my current company but moving into the financial operations / risk management side of it at our home office (~3000 miles away from here!) - this of course will require some solid credentials. The experience is secondary as I can get that through "osmosis" while studying and working at the same time

Anyways, here's hoping I stick with this plan. I am starting a blog to push me to not deviate and take it all seriously. I will be very content to get C and MFE by the end of 2010.
