Not sure if spot checks are the way to go, so an even better idea would be to record the full day's activities and then watch them at high speed (save time) to make sure you don't miss anything.

About the Canadian exam, I spoke to about 10 candidates after the exam and they found it very hard, some even said it was harder than last sitting where the pass rate was 30%.
