I am shocked at you people! SHocked, I say!
Absolutely no discussion around the rumor that Palin's fifth child is actually her 16 yo daughter's? ![]() Palin when she was six months "pregnant" (before announcing her pregnancy): ![]() That may be the skinniest pregnant woman I've ever seen! This one was taken a week or two later: ![]() Hmmmm, who looks preggers in this one? Interestingly enough, that same daughter was out of school for months in the spring with "mono". Carry on, I'm just starting rumors... ![]()

Stupid rumor...what a loada crap.
Absolutely zero proof of anything. The baby has Down Syndrome. Probability of Down Syndrome in a baby born to a woman at her age is somewhere around 1 in 25, in a teenager it's closer to 1 in 2000. It also easily explains why she did not announce her pregnancy until she was in her seventh month since there was probably a chance of losing the baby and why would she ever want to go public with that sort of pain? Furthermore, the lower birth weight associated with Down Syndrome could explain why she wouldn't appear pregnant for so long.

It really has to be terrible to be the minor children of politicians. It hasn't been much more than a day, and now her daughter can see pictures online that show big arrows pointing to her gut in a family photo and questioning the possibility of a secret child.
The daughter is 16. This is not Chelsea Clinton getting asked tough questions or Michelle Obama having to defend her comments. Amazing how any family gets through it. |

Or at McCain's joke in 1998 (Chelsea was 18 at the time)? Spoiler:

Hardly seems like "equally" is appropriate. I mean, it's not like you were outraged enough to say anything against shekky's "Chelsea the dog-faced girl" in these threads that you were involved in. http://www.actuarialoutpost.com/actuarial_discussion_forum/showthread.php?t=5072 http://www.actuarialoutpost.com/actuarial_discussion_forum/showthread.php?t=5564 Anyway, the story's pretty silly, not sure how it's worth discussing. Who looks more pregnant, the girl that has a tiny bulge in her stomach or the woman who is wearing a huge bulky vest so you can't see anything? But, assuming it's true, you have the story of a sixteen-year-old girl who screwed up then had the baby rather than taking the easy way out, and a mom who went to great lengths to protect her daughter from a tougher life than she probably deserved. Pretty horrible stuff.

Westley and The Drunken Actuary. seem to have trouble distinguishing between a minor child of a politician and an adult actively campaigning for her mother.
