Figured someone should start this. I'll start digging through ASM on Monday, and hope to have my first pass through the material done by mid March - pending results from MLC, of course. Good luck to everyone this time around!

I just got my copy of ASM for exam C but I'm still contemplating whether to take MFE or C this coming spring. Hopefully I get to decide by the time MLC results are out so that I can start early. For now, I have to get this VEE out of the way first.

Having tested different strategies of studying with prior exams, I am figuring what sort of study style I should keep for C.
Considering the amount of new materials, I think I'd skim through C quickly to get the gist of it. Skip exercises and do past years, reviewing chapters as I go. In MLC, doing all exercises as I go ended up using more study time because early materials got rusty by the time I finish all chapters. What's your plan for taking C? |

There seem to be a lot of material for Exam C. I'm planning to go through all the chapters and do some questions along the way (maybe alternate questions or every 3 questions) and then do the practice exams.
Does anyone who have taken it have any good strategy to share? |

I'm planning on repeating a strategy that worked for me for MLC:
Read through all the chapters, working through all the examples in the chapters as I go (rather than simply reading them), and doing about 4-8 questions at the end of each chapter (depending on how much trouble I have with the first few). The goal is to do enough just enough questions as I read to learn the material, but no more, with the idea that I'll really nail down my understanding at the end by doing a ton of practice exams/problems. It seemed to work for MLC (high 20's out of 30 on the PAK) and left me with over a month to do practice exams/problems before the real exam.

Like smilehoe, I did every problem in MLC as I went, and found that I was running low on review time at the end. However, I did take copious notes of each chapter and worked every example through, which was something different I tried, and I liked. I'll do that, but probably do roughly half of the problems my first time through, and see where I end up.

This thread's a great idea. Seeing my progress (and others') will help me stay motivated.
Pulled out the ASM last night and reviewed the probability stuff in 1-1; will work the example problems tonight and work ahead into the next few sections. Goal is to get all probability review done by this weekend. |

I'm not certain I passed MLC, but I am going to start studying for C anyway. Starting this week and plan on following Abe's suggested study schedule. That will leave about 5-6 weeks to review. I am relieved that C is offered again in August 2010, just in case...
