Default The Summer of Race-baiting is underway

Quote:
The unwarranted and unfortunate firing of Shirley Sherrod may well be remembered as the moment when politicians, activists and journalists fully recognized the dangers of the “reverse racism” hustle that has become the sport of too many on the right – especially since the election of President Obama. The desperate effort of those who trade in this shameful game is too try and re-cast the story of race in America to one in which hard-working average whites are victimized by racist, elite, entitled blacks.
The anxiety of many whites about the presidency of Barack Obama has provided fertile ground in which to till this poison. Last summer, it was Sonia Sotomayor - a sitting federal appellate judge branded a “Latina racist” by former speaker of the House and presidential aspirant Newt Gingrich – who was the “reverse racist” du jour of these hustlers. Several months later, Glenn Beck went all in and called the president of the United States a racist. The lesson of Sherrod’s firing is that the president, the NAACP, responsible journalists and activists on the right and left, should stand strong against these attacks. The willingness of the Obama administration and the NAACP in particular to accept the distortion of Sherrod’s speech before a full investigation, shows the danger of being cowed by the Breitbarts and Becks of the world.
It’s especially ironic after the NAACP’s courageous stand against racist elements in the tea party movement. It’s gratifying that NAACP President Ben Jealous has had the courage and humility to admit his errors in hastily judging Sherrod. If Sherrod’s shameful treatment is to have any redeeming feature, it should be that it serves as a wake-up call to those of us who want this country to go forward in dealing with race.

No bias here. The NAACP is courageous and teh tea party has racist elements. How can you read the article and not agree? Moving on.

Do you prefer tomato stew or french onion?

There are people that think the NAACP, Sherrod and the Prez are racists, it's just a viewpoint. More at the link.

I'm a southerner, catfish stew.
