Default Where were you 5 years ago?

A recent thread is asking where you'd like to be in 5 years. Where were you 5 years ago and are you where you thought you'd be now?

For me it was 2 employers and 2 cities ago - seems like a lifetime. No way would I have predicted where I am now.

5 years ago today? About to start my first actuarial job. I'm probably farther than I'd thought I would be but not as far as I'd have liked to be.

First year of university, so I was probably hungover and sleeping in the library. At that point I thought I was going to pursue chemistry and had never heard of an actuary.

I was signing up for my first actuarial exam, which I failed. I didn't take it seriously at the time as I was busy courting my future wife.

5 years ago I was studying for my 2nd attempt at Exam M after a miserable 1st attempt. At that point, I was questioning whether I'd make it to ASA in 5 years. I got my FSA last Friday, so I guess I'm doing better than I expected.

Five years ago I was in college, in the process of permanently breaking up with my long-time on-and-off-again girlfriend. I cut all my hair off and was getting ready to turn a new page in my life. The summer to come would be one of the funnest summers of my life, and between March and August I completely redefined who I was and what I wanted to do with my life. Kind of ridiculous how big of a transition that was. I can hardly even remember what the me before that summer was like.
