Western Conference (9 teams): 24 conference games = 2H/1R vs 4 teams, 1H/2R vs 4 teams.
Eastern Conference: 25 conference games = 2H/2R vs 2 teams, 3 games (either 1H/2R or 2H/1R) vs 7 teams All non-conference matchups played once.

I like the playoff changes. Five teams from each conference with no crossover makes sense since it's going to be a unbalanced schedule with significant inner-conference weight. I'm kind of ambivalent leaning towards liking the home-away conference final. Absolutely love the higher seed getting MLS Cup. Makes the final season standings a little more meaningful.
But I am ready for MLS to stop tinkering with the playoff structure year after year.

What if they're both #1 seeds?
What if one team's conference sucks balls and the #1 seed, by virtue of the unbalanced schedule, has more points simply because it got to play more games against the ball-suckers than the other conference's teams?
