Default UBUNTU

Hi guys, how do you like Ubuntu?

I have been using Ubuntu since the release of 11.04 and love it very much. I love the idea that things are free from OS all the way to softwares/apps. It runs faster on the same machine that I have Win7HP 32bit. things are great. what about you?

I'm on 10.04 on my (home) laptop and 10.10 on my (home) desktop. I have an XP VM for the rare times I need to do something that can only be done there.

When I'm working with applications that have strong linux support, i.e. R, Octave, LibreOffice, I strongly prefer linux over Windows. I liked Ubuntu until it's latest iteration. Unity drove me to Kubuntu.

My photo workflow management software, Lightroom, doesn't run natively in linux. I've tried several of the offerings that do run in linux, but none of them have left me happy enough to delete Win7 from my dual boot laptop.

I jumped over to Linux Mint and haven't looked back. OP, you might want to give it a look.

I am using 11.11. Ubuntu is more secure compares to Windows, but Unity has a lot of rooms for improvement.
My computer also has W7 installed as dual boot. I use W7 for gaming.

Yup, Ubuntu is powering my Media PC (MythTV DVR), and an old laptop (circa 2005). I think both are on 10.10. Been using since ~9.04

ubuntu makes things easy for the most part. if you want to develop, archlinux seems the way to go, or just roll your own debian distro (which is what ubuntu is).

There was this time, I got a SSD drive that was completely locked up. You can't boot from it, you can't format it and you can't even delete the partition table with anything that is associated with Windows/Dos/WinPe whatever. I got ubuntu disk and the installation process just rolled it right over. I became a fan. Unity does need some work but other flavor of ubuntu are top-notch.
