I made a new deposit last night at Stars, and it paid off with some good cards in a $5 SNG.
Hands 8 through 21 included 6 pocket pairs for me. I also hit on more flops than usual. In fact, I should have been out on hand 10. Here's the hand: *********** # 10 ************** PokerStars Game #280971484: Tournament #966638, Hold'em No Limit - Level II (15/30) - 2004/02/10 - 00:27:16 (ET) Table '966638 1' Seat #1 is the button Seat 1: ranalaw (4065 in chips) Seat 2: lavantino (1165 in chips) Seat 3: maxim420 (1220 in chips) Seat 4: txtd (700 in chips) Seat 5: stragusy (1380 in chips) Seat 6: twothree (1570 in chips) Seat 8: texwest2 (1480 in chips) Seat 9: Skiloski (1920 in chips) lavantino: posts small blind 15 maxim420: posts big blind 30 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to txtd [Tc Th] txtd: raises 60 to 90 stragusy: folds twothree: folds texwest2: folds Skiloski: raises 760 to 850 ranalaw: folds lavantino: folds maxim420: folds txtd: calls 610 and is all-in *** FLOP *** [As 8c Ac] *** TURN *** [As 8c Ac] [Ts] *** RIVER *** [As 8c Ac Ts] [Jd] *** SHOW DOWN *** txtd: shows [Tc Th] (a full house, Tens full of Aces) Skiloski: shows [Ah Kh] (three of a kind, Aces) txtd collected 1445 from pot *** SUMMARY *** Total pot 1445 | Rake 0 Board [As 8c Ac Ts Jd] Seat 1: ranalaw (button) folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 2: lavantino (small blind) folded before Flop Seat 3: maxim420 (big blind) folded before Flop Seat 4: txtd showed [Tc Th] and won (1445) with a full house, Tens full of Aces Seat 5: stragusy folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 6: twothree folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 8: texwest2 folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 9: Skiloski showed [Ah Kh] and lost with three of a kind, Aces I wonder how long the new deposit luck lasts?

Unless you have a note on the re-raiser to the effect of "this guy loves to re-steal pre-flop" then you should lay this hand down to his re-raise. You are either a slight favorite (against two over cards) or a big dog (over pair). The blinds are still low and 600 is enough to work with.

I played another $5 SNG on my lunch break. Here's the way the very first hand went, give me any suggestions.
I get 2d,4d. I'm one before the SB, and several call to me. I figure, what the heck and call. The flop comes 10, 4, 7 rainbow. First to act bets 20, a few call and I figure, what the heck for the price I'll call. The turn gives me a set. Again the first to act bets 20 and a few callers to me, where I bet the pot, which is about $270 if I recall. First to act calls my bet, everyone else folds. Now I'm thinking he has a bigger set. The river gives me the last 4. He checks to me. I went all-in, he folded. I am thinking I should've just limped in and hoped he tried to steal, but he might have been trying to get the flush and missed it. Any ideas?

My guess is if I came across the same situation and someone came back over the top all in, I'd probably fold... |
