Default New deposit.

I made a new deposit last night at Stars, and it paid off with some good cards in a $5 SNG.
Hands 8 through 21 included 6 pocket pairs for me.
I also hit on more flops than usual. In fact, I should have been out on hand 10. Here's the hand:

Unless you have a note on the re-raiser to the effect of "this guy loves to re-steal pre-flop" then you should lay this hand down to his re-raise. You are either a slight favorite (against two over cards) or a big dog (over pair). The blinds are still low and 600 is enough to work with.

I agree 100%. I knew it when I called even. I had just made a bad call the previous hand on pocket 9s. I had pretty much decided to give it up and start over. I was very lucky on this one.

I played another $5 SNG on my lunch break. Here's the way the very first hand went, give me any suggestions.
I get 2d,4d.
I'm one before the SB, and several call to me. I figure, what the heck and call.
The flop comes 10, 4, 7 rainbow. First to act bets 20, a few call and I figure, what the heck for the price I'll call.
The turn gives me a set. Again the first to act bets 20 and a few callers to me, where I bet the pot, which is about $270 if I recall. First to act calls my bet, everyone else folds.
Now I'm thinking he has a bigger set.
The river gives me the last 4. He checks to me. I went all-in, he folded. I am thinking I should've just limped in and hoped he tried to steal, but he might have been trying to get the flush and missed it. Any ideas?

He had a str draw (89 most likely). On the river I would have bet less, but he would have folded anyway.

If that is true, should he have called on the turn? I think you are right about the straight draw, but I don't think I would call the pot bet if it were me there.

You're right his play was horrible. Terrible call on the turn and how in the hell do you bet 20 into a multi-way pot of 200+.

Edited to fix grammar mistake.

I've always wondered that too. Is there ever a good time for the 1st one to act to place a really small bet into a fairly large pot just after the flop or turn? Anytime I've played against someone that does this, I've gone over the top with a pot bet and they always fold. The first few times it happened, I thought it may be a trap, but it hasn't happened yet.

My guess is if I came across the same situation and someone came back over the top all in, I'd probably fold...
