Default Review of Online Seminars

Has anyone used the Coaching Actuaries Online Videos? How are you?

How's actuarial brew online seminar?

I feel the consensus is with TIA that it only covers the basics of the material on the syllabus for MFE and not sufficient on its own.

I used Tia and adapt. I felt TIA did a great job of teaching the material efficiently, but the practice problems were lacking depth, hence why I used ADAPT practice exams. The material can be made to seem difficult from what I found when written in a study manual, but can be explained well with TIA. In the end I guess it comes down to how you learn.

I am a fan of TIA. In the end though if you put in the work, I think most resources will lead you to a passing score.

I used Coaching Actuaries and was very pleased with it. ADAPT is a great tool to use in the last few weeks of studying. I don't think I've heard a bad thing about it. I have heard that TIA isn't as in depth as it needs to be for MFE, which drove me away from it. I've heard that a number of times.

I had done the TIA lectures and they covered the material very efficiently and I was very pleased with the presentation. However, it is unlikely you'll be completely prepared only using TIA I also used the AB questions and ADAPT as additional question banks.

Know also, you don't need to use a seminar to pass. It may help if it suits your learning style, but truthfully the ASM manual is more than enough.

I agree that ADAPT is great practice, though. If I passed this sitting, it wouldn't have happened with them.

I also have access to the 9th Edition of the ASM manual, but I don't like it as much as I did Cherry's 2/FM manual.
