Default HCCI Report

So I see there is a HCCI report from the Health Section that addresses the 'drivers of cost' of health care.

Is it really that simple? Can we really solve the health crisis by identifying certain drivers (that supposedly no one has drilled down to so far??). Very interested in hearing thoughts on this interesting direction.

I've seen those "drivers of cost" for 20 years now. That is probably not the solution. The problem lies in trying to predict the coming year's drivers of cost, which are often different from the prior year's.

Also: there is no "crisis."

The main driver of cost is that a lot of people have had their health care subsidized for years (medicare, group health insurance, medicaid, etc.). Subsidization makes health costs lower for the subsidized (thus increasing utilization for a kind-of fixed supply), but higher for the non-subsidized population.

DTNF and FL pretty much covered it. This report shows costs and trends, doesn't go too far in depth beyond frequency/severity really. And identification of a problem rarely solves the problem.

First consider this: what is the health crisis you are referring to?

And even if you can define it, the answer is "no". You can't solve whatever you perceive as the crisis just "by identifying certain drivers". You'd have to do something beyond just identifying them. I'm thinking that isn't what you were thinking, right?

Agreed.
OP, if YOU want comments, basically free consulting services, YOU should provide everything you want commented on. Else, guess what? No one will comment.
